HYSSTER

The HYSSTER system is a polymer and non swelling clay based drilling, completion or workover fluid. It is a recent addition to our product line and has some very interesting properties.

A typical HYSSTER system formulation is:

Make-up water
Soda Ash	0.25 pound per bbl (base fluid dependent)
Caustic Soda	1.5 pound per barrel
ActiVis LSR	25.0 pounds per barrel (base fluid dependent)
ActiPac	2.0 pounds per barrel (base fluid dependent)
ACTIGUARD	0.2 pounds per barrel
BLUE STREAK	0.5 pound per barrel
Aphronizer A	0.5 pound per barrel
Aphronizer B	0.5 pound per barrel
Plastisizer	0.3 pound per barrel
ACTIGUARD	0.2 pounds per barrel

Adjust the APHRON concentration to 14 % by volume with additions of BLUE STREAK, Aphronizer A, Aphronizer B and Plastisizer at their respective ratios (0.5:0.5:0.5:0.3 pounds per barrel)

Typical system properties as as follow:

Yield Point	30 - 50 lbs/100 ft2
10 Second Gel	25 - 30

pH (caustic based)	10.5 - 11.0

The system has been formulated using the following base fluids:

Fresh Water
Brackish Water
Sea Water
Saturated NaCl
Various formates (individually and in combination)
Various Bromides

NOTE: It has often times been operator preference to employ salts to meet density requirements for the purposes of minimizing unwanted solids while drilling reservoir sections or for the additional inhibition benefits certain salts provide.

Weighting agents such as calcium carbonate and barite have been used. We often recommend the use of specifically sized calcium carbonate for the purpose of minimizing initial pressure transfer associated with exposing low pressure formations to high annular pressures during the drilling process.
