Applications
Initial
treatment of the APHRON ICS™
fluid with ActiVator II
is typically with 0.5 pounds per barrel. Once the
APHRON ICS™
system has stabilized further addition of ActiVator
II may be required to adjust the pH between
10.0 and 10.3.As
with all waterbase drilling fluids it is advised
that pH monitoring be accomplished with a properly
calibrated pH meter. This is particularly so with
the APHRON ICS™
system since it has a highly buffered pH.

Limitations
ActiVator
II is highly hygroscopic. It will pick
up moisture from the atmosphere readily if precautions
are not taken to keep the product containers closed.
If moisture is allowed to contact ActiVator
II, the product will react with the moisture
and harden into a solid block.See

ActiVator
II is packaged in special 50 lb plastic
lined multi-ply bags, designed to keep the product
moisture free.
